FDA identifies fake impotence pill

As reported by the Washington Post, the US Food and Drug Administration has clamped down on a Viagra-like pill that was dubbed as a 100% herbal solution for male enhancement. The American broadsheet learns that inspectors from the apex American drug regulatory body found a suspicious ingredient in one of the much advertised male enhancement supplements. Following thorough examination, the substance was found to be similar to sildenafil citrate – the active ingredient in Viagra, the newspaper informs.Sold under the trade name Rock Hard Weekend, the impotence supplement made its way to billboards and television commercials as an “all-natural male enhancement”, the Washington Post notes, adding that the tablet is blue and green in colour – different from the genuine Pfizer product. According to the US daily, currently the FDA together with local law enforcing agencies is on the hunt for potentially harmful impotence supplements that are illegally available on various drug markets countrywide. It is learned that the supplement industry is worth $28 billion.

There is only one Viagra

There is no reason to believe that the similarity in ingredients found in Rock Hard Weekend and Viagra implies a similar working mechanism or efficacy. On the contrary, popping a Viagra-like pill may actually put men’s health at risk of developing severe health complications. Genuine Viagra, marketed and manufactured by Pfizer, is sold only on prescription and can be identified by its blue colour and four-sided shape with the word ‘Pfizer’ engraved on one side and ‘VGR’ followed by dosage strength on the other.
